LGR Blerbs

Unscripted rambling videos about whatever I'm interested in at the moment of recording. These are not deeply researched, highly edited, or have much effort put into them at all. And that is the point of Blerbs.

LGR Vlogs: Vintage Computer Festival Southwest 2024
This is the complete @VCFSW experience! At least as it was for me in 2024. Flying from North Carolina to Texas, getting settled in Dallas, a ton of wandering around the show itself, visiting the National Videogame Museum, then traveling back home and going for a hike.

A companion piece to this video: ua-cam.com/video/Q64ILEMgE34/v-deo.html This is the complete Vintage Computer Festival Midwest experience! At least as it was for me in 2023. Driving from North Carolina to Illinois, enjoying everything in downtown Chicago, setting up the LGR exhibit, shenanigans at the show itself, then eventually traveling back home and putting this video together while sick. ...

The Thermaltake Xray was one thing, but this Sunbeam deal from 2003? It’s another level of smoker’s PC drive bay accessory. ART, PASSION, CIGARETTES. Here's the LGR Oddware video on that one: ua-cam.com/video/_ErL39wqO-c/v-deo.html

This old KLINGON Keyboard Holder for CRTs
Переглядів 69 тис.Рік тому
nuqneH! Taking a look at this 80s(?) Klingon keyboard holder device. Which is really just a couple of plastic antlers that adhere to the side of a monitor to make a keyboard stand, ha. Testing with an IBM Model M as the company intended!
Buying New Old PlayStation Games from Square Enix! Final Fantasy Origins

Recently saw that Square Enix still sells reprinted and new old stock PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games. So I had to order some! Directly inspired by this video from GAMEGUY1210: ua-cam.com/video/j3ElYjPnz1g/v-deo.html And here's the webstore: store.na.square-enix-games.com/en_US/games/all-games
Testing a Vortex PC66 Keyboard on an IBM PCjr
Переглядів 59 тис.Рік тому
When I received a new Vortex PCjr styled mechanical keyboard recently, I halfheartedly lamented the fact that the USB-only keyboard couldn't connect to a real IBM PCjr computer from 1983. But what if it could? Here's how! Follow-up to this video: ua-cam.com/video/0XDlvegECG8/v-deo.html After finding the old Windows Mobile software for my 2005 Slingbox, I had to test it out on my HP iPaq RX1995 PocketPC. So let's do just that! Plus testing streaming video over LAN after the servers shut down in November 2022.
Absurd Shareware Art from the Troubled Wiz Technology
Переглядів 63 тис.Рік тому
Yeah I kinda forgot I had all these DOS games. So let's admire their weirdness! Released in the 1990s by Wiz Technology Inc, which the Los Angeles Times called "a troubled supplier of discount software" after they went bankrupt following years of financial sketchiness. Here's that LA Times newspaper article: www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1998-feb-03-fi-14886-story.html
A Color Computer Christmas Thing: Xmas Fantasia II

I planned on making an LGR video about a mysterious "Rotating Christmas Demo" tape for the TRS-80 CoCo. But welp, not only is not for that machine but I also can't get it working elsewhere! So since I already had stuff set up here's another thing entirely, ho-ho-ho. 00:00 Introduction 03:27 Holiday Chiptune Music 14:37 Outroduction
This CompUSA Disc Dispenser Exists

Seems I purchased another new old stock thing from Comp USA, this one being a media dispenser for blank CD-R and DVD-R discs. Pointless? Useful? Perhaps a little of both. It sure does exist though.
RIP Slingbox! Testing the Original 2005 Slingbox in 2022
Переглядів 543 тис.Рік тому
Sling Media servers will be permanently shut down and taken offline November 9, 2022. So it seemed like the perfect time to unbox this new old stock model from 2005 and test it out - before it's too late!
A Modern IBM PCjr style Mechanical Keyboard! Vortex PC66
Переглядів 123 тис.Рік тому
Vortex sent me this PC 66 keyboard to take a look at, so let's get to it! I was highly intrigued to see a new wireless mechanical board based on the second IBM PCjr keyboard. I just wasn't sure about how I'd adjust to the layout, compared to the PC68 with more keys. Let's see how it goes! More info on the board here: vortexgear.store/products/pc-66-66-key

Oh man, that MD collection... makes me want to get back there in the closet and dig mine out yet again....
Very fun show. My old man & I ran the NeXT Computer table (sadly not featured in the vlog) and it was cool of you to stop by! We got Doom and the id Software editing tools running later in the show, plus a bunch of donations, so next year will have more going on.
Yeah that's one I missed recording somehow! It was great seeing DoomEd running on there. I'll have to make sure and get footage next year :)
Kyle, when did you stop testing EVs?
Was that 12.99 for a chicken sandwich 👀?
concrete hell... no wonder its so hot there
46:15 someone help!!! What is that song I know it well and can’t place it!! I know I have listened to it thousands of times And just can’t think of it
Never mind I found it by scrolling in comments Hotel California eagles…. Can’t believe I couldn’t place it
Whoa..that keayboard that was rounded up on the side for WSAD and circular arrangement @15:44 ..looks like its a MadCatz...i would still get one of those today with good keyboard switches. Looks bizzare, but for gaming it makes perfect sense. Please bring that design back with mechanical switches
The Wolf Claw was by a company called PD Scientific. I'd never heard of it!
@@LGRBlerbs i got an answer from clint himself (at least i hope so)..i can die happy now. Never heard of wolves claw..but looks damn close to the MadCatz logo
Im lookin forward each year to this video gems. Thanks clint..its like a micro vaccation for the people across the pond aswell.
My family’s first computer was a green Acer just like the one at the beginning of the video!
You DO live in really beautiful spot, Clint. Open the curtains and get greeted by lovely trees filtering the morning sunshine.
Heck yeah, I love this forested area. I don't understand some of the nearby neighbors who chopped down all their trees to put in a manicured yard... so much maintenance. Gimme all the trees and bushes and moss!
It's texass.
I'm super excited for VCF Midwest this year because it's gonna be in a bigger place. I went last year for the first time (you signed my Powerbook).
As always: Nice & zen travelogue. Nice shout out to TechMoan as well!
I had that green Acer aspire as first computer I bought myself with working money when I was 17 years old circa 1995/6? I had it my first year or two of college. The model I had had a Cyrix 6x86 pr166 in it (120MHz). I played so much quake on that thing.
I have that QBasic by Example book 😊
I have got a Amstrad note pads had it from new
That midi Hotel California was glorious
Great stuff, that looks like a really nice convention. I wish we had that kind of stuff in Romania, but there was just a tiny Tech Expo a bit earlier... I'm glad we got a bit of nature footage too. :)
WHAT CLINT WAS AT MY ALMA MATER LIKE 5 MINUTES AWAY FROM ME AND I DISNT KNOW!!?!?! WHY?!?!!!
Did we just see Clint’s bare shoulders? Oh my!
Thanks for covering this! It was neat to see all the Sony and Sharp products, Toshiba too....in the 90s and 2000s, they were the Samsung and LG of the day....
13$ sandwich 😅
That phone is SO out of place, It's almost like the hotel people knew who was coming....
42:08 Laptop from Poland
That looked like an awesome show. Do people actually drink Starbucks?
Echoes on the 'jetway': "IT'S OK, I'M A UA-camR!"
That Mini-disc area looks like the sort of place Techmoan would feel right at home...
59:40 , thats what she said.
Looks like you caught me checking in around the 36 minute mark, lol
Thanks for the vlog it looks like this trip really knocked the wind out of your sails! Anyway really appreciate the walk around an event a lot of us could never get to.
Not surprising that place feels like computers and tech given that it was originally founded by Texas Instruments...
1:08:25 Is that blood? o . o Maybe there was another reason you had to get off... Great video btw. ^-^/)
I cannot see most of the people speaking in the background, describing thier things, but I can visualize them and be assured I am accurate.
The visit to the 8-bit Guy's house was cool!
13 dollars for that sandwich?!?!?!?!
22:05 Maaaate. You know we don’t ALL talk like that right? 😂 Aussies represent.
Im shocked it costs 13 dollars for a sandwich
Long time no blerbs :(
Stopped at Whataburger on the way to the show. Wasn't expecting Clint to walk in front of my car while I was waiting in the drive through.
I hate to say this but I did not see one black person the entire time. I mean computers are for everyone. You mean to tell me there's not one black nerd that is super into computers?
I helped run the NeXT Computer tables (which sadly don't feature in the vlog except in passing) and we had a few black attendees come up, some old and some young.
42:15 POLSKA MENTIONED!!!!! POLSKA GÓRĄ!!!!!! POLACY PRZEJMUJEMY TEN KANAŁ 💪😎🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱
Fortunately, it was an Airbus.
49:18 There we go. Usagi with his Centurion stuff. Worth watching his videos.
Hanging out with Hulshult? Damn Clint! Awesome, love the video!
looks fun I'm about to check out some of their talks
that imagewriter II was the first printer I ever had good luck getting it to work on PC :)
Vote, please vote
Blerbs again risen out of it’s coma. So much amazing tech. Epic to see those Sovjet computers. Oh that minidisc space is so epic, especially since I got in to minidisc again ( thanks to the netMD being made easy to use ).
Imagine if the US had a functional interstate passenger fast rail system....
Wide awake at 3am and I see I missed this blerb. Lovely! First time insomnia has paid off. With all this “Texas” I recommend a little movie from the 80s called “True Stories’.
Man, some people walked out of there with free aluminum iMacs. Probably not working, I would guess? Still, might make a cool enclosure for a custom build using a laptop board or something.
